David Buck

I love a good story - something I learned from my grandparents who were "old-school" reporters for the Chicago Tribune for over 50 years. Investing in real estate produces a lot of great stories, especially in the Mountain West which has such a rich history and culture. Every investment has a story, and I like to think of our investment process as investigating and uncovering that story.
Chief Investment Officer
David serves as Chief Investment Officer, the primary architect of Roundhouse's investment strategy, capital raising, portfolio management, and risk management, a role he's held since joining in 2021. He previously spent years as Senior Vice President at Oaktree Capital Management sourcing and managing real estate equity and debt investments across multifamily, residential homebuilding, commercial, and corporate platforms, and started his career as an Analyst at Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing. He holds a BA with honors in Business Economics and Accounting from UCLA and serves as Investor-in-Residence for the Benjamin Graham Value Investing Program there.
Real estate is driven by local economies and the behavior of the people who inhabit them. I'm fascinated by the evolution of cities — what draws people to them, how people interact with them, and the opportunities and challenges that come with growth. At Roundhouse, we get to help shape the future of the places where we invest, and I enjoy thinking about how we can do that better.
